Nothing is more exciting than the future. For us, Research & Innovation is therefore an important building block for actively shaping this future. It's all about new technologies and their potential applications, which we evaluate at an early stage. Where do they really make a difference? What can our customers use these developments for? Our research team conducts research with maximum practical relevance. And has been doing so for more than five years. By now, the team represents around 10 % of all XITASOnians.
We don’t do research that’s going to end up in a storage drawer. We can address our customer’s issues today through the knowledge gained from our research and then directly apply it in the market.
To achieve all of this we need clever people. XITASO’s research team has grown constantly since 2018.
The core team, Entropie, with its over 25 members, has dedicated itself every day to help in designing the technology landscape of tomorrow. Furthermore, science interested XITASOnians have committed themselves to research activities through the Research & Innovation Community (XRI). A large part of the team is made up of young people who are working students in XITASO, carrying out their thesis or even doing their doctoral project.
Right from the get-go, they can help shape new technologies, which are not yet available on the market, contributing to their own technical and personal growth. Simultaneously, we work with national and international research institutes and universities who contribute their own knowledge and from which we can learn a lot.
Additionally, we couple with partners from the business world who contribute unsolved problems. This is how we research new technologies, not just in a theoretical sense but also where we can do practical tests in relevant application cases, under real conditions.

Our entropie team
The mission of our research teams: Explore – Explain – Establish. Thereby ensuring the digital advantage of our customers.
To do so, we are already addressing our customers' problems of tomorrow today. In contrast to others, we are able to access more than just existing methods. We research and evaluate new technologies which are then incorporated into our consultation to the customers. Thanks to our methodological expertise and the results of our research, we can quickly outline approaches and transform them into real concepts. In addition to technological knowledge, our practical research also enables us to deepen existing industry knowledge or build up expertise in new domains. To transfer knowledge into practice we have also created an exceptional addition to our training portfolio: XITASOnians from the Delivery can temporarily transfer into the Entropie team to work on research projects. The funded framework makes it possible to deal intensively with complex issues and potential solutions, thereby building up in-depth expertise and then bringing this back into future customer projects.
From invention to innovation.
When an invention has found its place on the market and established itself, then it becomes an innovation,’ according to Dr. Richard Nordsieck. And that has already been achieved splendidly. For example, in the BaSys4Transfer research project, in which we provide with Mnestix an open-source software that is used to transfer asset-related data into administration shells. This enables the cross-company information exchange between various assets, e.g., machine parts.
Presence in the scientific scene
Pushing state of the art technologies and initiating new ones cannot be done alone, but rather through collaboration.
Therefore, it is important for us as XITASO to be internationally visible, just as it is important for us to able to provide the worldwide research community with feedback. For these purposes, we continually attend leading conferences interna-tionally and regularly publish scientific papers on determined topics in conjunction with other companies and research institutes, and involve ourselves with reviews. For us, this is a real seal of quality, because anyone who is allowed to have a say here can really make a difference! Portugal, London, Melbourne, Berlin, Malaga, our research team is always on the move, helping to drive research and technology transfer. We from XITASO are also active in numerous committees.
